My career hasn’t been linear. It’s been cumulative.
For more than 25 years, I’ve been drawn to moments of possibility: a manufacturer ready to expand its footprint, a media company navigating a shift to new technology, an industry working to introduce more people to the opportunities it offers.
Today, that possibility may belong to a person searching for direction, a leader learning to lead differently, a team trying to work better together, or an organization looking for the right person to help it grow.
My career has taken me through sales, small-business ownership, operations management, digital media, workforce development, and recruiting. Each chapter has strengthened my ability to recognize potential, connect people and ideas, and help turn possibility into progress.
That experience shapes the work I do today: helping people find where they can thrive, teams work better together, and businesses grow through thoughtful hiring.

Individual coaching, team development, and recruiting may look like different kinds of work. To me, they are three parts of the same ecosystem.
Meaningful work begins with people understanding who they are, what they bring, and where they can contribute. It grows when teams learn to communicate, value their differences, and work toward something together. And it lasts when organizations hire thoughtfully and create places where the right people can do their best work.
When those pieces align, people thrive, teams grow stronger, and organizations make a greater impact. That impact reaches far beyond the workplace.

WHY MY WORK MATTERS
Meaningful work can change the world.
Call me a hippie, but I truly believe it. My purpose is to spread that message—to inspire people and organizations to embrace it and offer practical guidance for making it real.
Work occupies a significant share of our adult lives. It affects our physical and mental health, our confidence, and our sense of purpose. What happens at work comes home with us, shaping how we show up for our families and rippling outward into our communities.
At its best, work also brings together people who might otherwise never know one another. Working toward a shared purpose can break down the fear and stereotypes that divide us and replace them with understanding, respect, and common ground.
I’ve worked since I was 14 years old. Along the way, I’ve had amazing opportunities with outstanding employers who genuinely valued their people. Still, I thought of work as something I had to do.
Several years ago, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and told I might not work again. Suddenly, the future I had expected looked entirely different.
Then someone gave me an opportunity to try recruiting. That chance did more than begin a new chapter in my career. It changed my relationship with work. I stopped thinking, “I have to work,” and began thinking, “I get to work.”
Since then, I’ve never seen a job as just a job. Meaningful work can restore confidence, create stability, reveal strengths, and open possibilities. I know because it did those things for me.
That is why I care so deeply about helping people find places where they can contribute, teams work better together, and organizations hire thoughtfully and create workplaces where more people can thrive.

Learning to lead the room.
Traveled throughout the Southeast teaching cheerleading, teamwork, and leadership to middle and high school students.
ROBEEZ FOOTWEAR
Building a market from the ground up.
One of the first employees hired for the Canadian company’s U.S. expansion; helped establish the Southeast as a leading market before its acquisition by Stride Rite.
SMALL-BUSINESS OWNER
Learning leadership and operations from the inside.
Co-owned and managed a 300-seat restaurant and bar, overseeing front-of-house operations and approximately 50 employees. Checked off a bucket-list goal much sooner in life than expected.
WAAY31 • NEW MEDIA
Turning resistance to change into growth.
Recruited to join newly created New Media department as Sales Director early in the Web 2.0 era. Introduced clients to websites and digital advertising; Exceeded first-year revenue budget by more than 350%, Promoted to Director and led company-wide adoption of digital practices. Produced and hosted weekly on-air news segment.
WAAY31 • SKILLED TO WORK
Connecting people with opportunity.
Championed and managed Skilled to Work, a multi-departmental workforce initiative that raised awareness of skilled-career pathways while connecting employers with prospective talent. The initiative generated approximately $500,000 in annual revenue for WAAY31.
PASSIONHR CONSULTING
Reimagining recruiting around people.
Developed a people-first direct-hire practice designed to feel intentionally different from traditional recruiting. Partnered with repeat clients across biomedical, manufacturing, healthcare, and local government to fill positions ranging from entry level to vice president.
This chapter also turned a growing interest in workplace well-being into a serious area of study—and helped shape the philosophy behind the work I do today.

I see potential—and help it grow.
I’m naturally wired to notice possibilities, connect people and ideas, and create momentum. In Taking Flight with DISC, I’m a Parrot: curious, optimistic, people-focused, and energized by what could be. My Working Geniuses—Invention and Galvanizing—tell a similar story. I love imagining new possibilities and helping others move toward them.
That energy is grounded in listening. I ask thoughtful questions, look for the story beneath the story, and recognize strengths or connections that may not be obvious yet. Then I help turn those insights into greater clarity, direction, and action.
I take meaningful work seriously, but I don’t believe it has to feel stiff or joyless. Curiosity, candor, laughter, and a little play can make difficult conversations more human—and growth more possible.

BEYOND THE WORK
Learn something new every day.
Outside of work, I’m usually following my curiosity wherever it leads—toward live music, art, an old-fashioned paper book, a plant I’ve never noticed, or a bird call I need the Merlin app to identify.
I live on Smith Lake in rural Alabama, where the outdoors is part of everyday life. I garden, paddleboard, photograph the landscape, and explore the remarkable biodiversity of the place I call home. I also play the bongos badly and firmly believe fun should be intentional; it shouldn’t be reserved for vacations.
My interests keep me observant, imaginative, and open to discovery. They remind me that beauty, dignity, and possibility are often found in the places—and people—others overlook.
